Brand History honma #9
History of
Honma Golf Club Manufacturing Co. was established in 1963.
After repeated prototyping, the company made its first golf club.
The Extra 90 series became an instant hit and a long-selling product.
In the heyday of persimmon drivers, this model became as popular as overseas brands such as MacGregor and Hogan.
Several minor changes were made to the face, color, and shaft before Extra 90 became a long-selling series.
FE-700 was released when the Hiro Honma brand made its debut in 1978.
Hiro Honma is named after the then president Hiroo Honma, who was called a genius of club-making.
This model comes with a black carbon shaft, developed in house.
The Hiro Honma brand, which has helped many pros, all started from here.
The name "+2" may remind you of another company's product.
However, Honma Golf has been selling "+2" products since 1985.
This model became famous for its slogan "This 5 iron can go as far as a 3 iron."
Its muscle back features a high loft angle designed for advanced players. "Professional" is engraved on the head.
This is named the PP series because it is a professional model among professional models.
Honma Golf's distinctiveness is found in the simple muscle-back design and professional-favorite beautiful head shape.
This is Honma Golf's first titanium driver.
The irons were also launched along with the driver.
The LB series features a low CG with a shorter hosel.
This model prompted the company to develop golf clubs for amateurs as well as professionals.
Transition from Hiro Honma to Twin Marks.
The two-H mark looks like a cosmetic brand, which represents Honma's brand transition.
Two shaft types are available for the Twin Marks series according to the player's characteristics: Doris I for directional stability and Doris II and III for lightweight and long driving.
This model was developed with the following three ideas in mind:
"confident and authentic club-making."
"a will to continue evolving."
"integrity."
The ARMRQ shaft is introduced for the first time to develop a golf club based on different head speeds and design it in total balance with the head to offer the best gear for each golfer.
The Athport series was developed for young golfers.
It is aimed at those who want to keep on swinging to play better.
This driver was sold at less than 70,000 yen, which is relatively low in the lineup of the high-end Honma brand, to expand the market share.
This is Honma Golf's first driver with a face-angle-adjustment function.
This revolutionary function allows users to adjust the face angle without changing the shaft direction.
This adjustment does not change the feel while swinging, which differentiates Honma from other manufacturers.
The Beres series was launched with three concepts.
C-01 features operability, as C represents control.
S-01 features stability, as S represents stabilit
E-01 features ease of hitting the ball, as E represents easiness.
This series offers the best club for any type of golfer.
This club was built for enthusiastic golfers.
It contains all that this type of golfer wants.
This series features the following three themes: "top quality," "preciseness," and "best craftsmanship."
The newly developed Vizard shaft is integrated with athlete golfer's characteristics to generate an optimal trajectory.
Tour World, which is designed for professionals to compete on tours, has helped golfers win for three years since it was launched.
To have more golfers use such reliable clubs, Honma developed clubs for average golfers seeking lower scores.
This reliable-function series was built for enthusiastic average golfers, trumpeting the slogan "Be Zeal" (Be zealous for golf) to encourage them to break 100.
This is a cross-over model of Tour World.
XP-1 offers an overwhelmingly high probability of hitting the ball solidly without losing the head's driving performance.
This is because of its total design of the head and the shaft achieved by the complete in-house assembly.
The driver is equipped with an adjustment function used for Perfect Switch, allowing users to adjust the face angle, lie angle, and loft angle.
This model ensures both driving performance and directional stability.
This Tour World model was designed by Honma U.S. and co-developed by Honma Japan and U.S.
The new TiCarbon+Fast Frame construction is employed so that the carbon content of the head is 60%.
The bending repulsion of the crown and the sole generates a high initial velocity for greater driving distance.
TR stands for Tour Release.
The Crank Slot increases the initial ball velocity and prevents a poor hit by using the gear effect.
The Radial Face increases the face repulsion and expands the repulsion area for driving performance and directional stability.
Honma also introduced Prototype, a model with extra driving performance, developed based on feedback from pros.
The driver, equipped with six features (Solid Carbon Crown, L-CUP Face, Keel Design Weight, Booster Slot, Advanced Radial Face, and X-Rib), achieves the fastest ball speed in the history of BERES.
The iron controls the center of gravity by incorporating a tungsten weight and a vibration-absorbing resin bar into the cavity section.
Additionally, the toe-side weight enhances straightness and provides high tolerance for off-center hits.
Furthermore, the synergy with the wide sole creates a low and deep center of gravity, delivering a high trajectory even with strong lofts, achieving excellent distance performance.
In both design and functionality, this is the next-generation BERES that redefines conventional concepts.
Equipped with the world’s first carbon slot.
To enhance rebound force from flex and recovery, the sole slit area is designed to be as thin as possible.
Covering this slit with carbon ensures strength while generating maximum rebound.
Additionally, shortening the length of the slit further accelerates the flex recovery.
This results in unprecedented high initial ball speeds.
The keel design places a 9g weight protruding outward from the rear sole of the head, achieving a deep center of gravity while lowering it.
In addition, by eliminating the toe weight placed on the Type-D and positioning the keel design and back weight further toward the heel, the center of gravity angle has been increased, improving the performance of the ball's grab.
The unique “Triple Slot” sole grooves are divided into center, toe, and heel sections to maximize the rebound performance at each hitting point.
The shorter length of the groove instantly returns deflection for center hits, resulting in a higher initial velocity.
For off-center hits, the gear effect is increased, resulting in the trajectory returning to the center.
The L-cup structure, which delivers high initial velocity and performance over a wide area, increases the repulsive force, especially in the lower part of the face.
The rebound area has also been expanded to provide a more stable shot that is resistant to miss-hits from hitting point blurring.
New materials have been adopted to achieve both drive and stability.
Accelerates the crushing and returning motion of the shaft during the swing, resulting in a consistent swing trajectory.
The counterbalance effect was increased and swing speed was improved.
The increased strength of the shaft sheet allows for a more consistent swing path and more accurate shots.
