GOLF Partner USA 2023 PRO-AM Tournament

From May 18 to May 21, the tournament will be held at the Toride Kokusai Golf Club in Tsukubamirai City, Ibaraki Prefecture. The "GOLF Partner PRO-AM Tournament" is Japan's first PRO/Amateur style men's tournament. It offers an unprecedented opportunity for amateur golfers to compete alongside professionals on the same field. In January, a qualifying event was held across the country, attracting amateur golfers from all walks of life. The top 300 winners from this qualifying round were selected to participate in the main tournament, which consists of a qualifying round and a final round.

The tournament features two different formats: Doubles Match and Scratch Match. The Doubles Match is designed for those who enjoy playing with friends, family, or significant others. In this format, teams of two compete using the "Foreball method" rules, where the best score of each team on every hole contributes to the final result. It's a fantastic opportunity to enjoy the game while aiming for the final rounds together with your partner.

 

 

On the other hand, the Scratch Match is an individual tournament that puts players' skills to the test. It is open to participants who have competed in the past and offers a chance to witness the talents of those who have passed the qualifying rounds up close. This style of tournament has a long history and was first held in 1937 on the PGA Tour. Today, it is known as the "AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Ama" and is held every February, allowing both men and women to compete.

A total of 128 professionals will be participating in this year's "GOLF Partner PRO-AM Tournament". After the two-day qualifying round, approximately 60 players will advance to the final round. The unique aspect of this year's tournament is that groups will consist of two professionals and two amateurs who will play together over the course of four days. During the qualifying rounds for professionals on the first and second day, two amateurs from the Doubles Match will have the opportunity to play one day with the pros.

On the third day of the final round and the last day of the tournament, 60 amateurs will advance to the Scratch Match. They will be divided into groups consisting of two amateurs and two professionals, creating an exciting dynamic as they compete alongside the pros for two days. This format provides an exceptional opportunity for amateurs to showcase their skills and learn from the professionals they are teamed up with.
